Watchmen Director’s Cut Deleted Scene

Watchmen Director’s Cut Deleted Scene

Have a look at the deleted scene from Zack Snyder’s “Watchmen” where we witness Hollis Mason’s (He was the original Nite Owl) death that will be available on the Director’s cut due out on DVD and Blu-ray on July 21st.

I guess the scene was cut for time or whatever, but it looks sharp and in a bittersweet sort of way beautiful all at once. The part where Mason is talking to a badly made up Carla Gugino is kind of slow, and useless but once the thugs (who look straight out of the 70s Batman TV show) show up, the good stuff begins.

With every punch that is thrown, we get a glimpse of the glory days, and see quick images of previous villains that have tasted what the “Owl” was cooking. I love the imagery and the old fashion style punches being thrown. There are too many things to count that made this a momentous scene: the flashbacks, the set decoration, the trophy used to clobber Mason with “In Gratitude” covered in blood. Oddly enough what makes the scene so brutal and serene at the same time is music; the sounds of the orchestra as it build to its final crescendo.

This 3 minute clip makes me want to beat some one up to Mozart! And yes, as one commentator pointed out, at the 2:32 minutes mark when the photos fall off the wall, you do catch a small peak at the Watchmen novel in the bookcase.
